Outdoor Learning!

A little about Jabberwocky Children's Nursery...

Our philosophy is that children need to be nurtured in a loving, inspiring and fulfilling environment. Learning is effortless when experienced through exploration, play and joy.

The nursery’s fresh, bright, internal space is modern and beautifully decorated, and is as cosy and as warm as a home. Our setting is architect-designed and purpose-built – a space which has been carefully conceived to cater for and aid the development and learning potential of all children.

In addition, our children are lucky enough to have all the benefits of a natural, learning adventure at our Forest School, just a short walk away at the Arboretum in Street. In this incredibly safe outdoor classroom, which we use every day, come rain or shine, our children have the freedom to explore a woodland space, investigate the life within it and learn outdoor skills – all in the freshest of air.

We firmly believe that creating magical, stimulating spaces for children will spark their curiosity and imagination and inspire lifelong learning. We also are committed to providing a safe, loving, family-like environment in which children are comfortable and relaxed – studies have shown that it is when children are in this state of mind that they are most receptive to learning. We embrace the reality that all children are unique and we strive to offer a programme of care and education that not only ensures children experience all areas of the ‘Foundation Stage Framework,’ but also appeals to every kind of learner.

At Jabberwocky, we are all keen to promote healthy living and exercise. As well as acknowledging the benefits of being regularly outside in a woodland space to a child’s mind and body, the children enjoy a weekly, much-loved class of football and tennis.

We understand that finding the right childcare can be a very emotional decision that has to be as right for parents and carers, as it is for every child. We also know the pressures working adults can be under which is why we will do our utmost to fit in with your busy schedule. It is also the reason we accept Childcare Vouchers and the Tax Free Government scheme and provide care and learning from birth to as long as you need us. You are very welcome to come and look round Jabberwocky Nursery. Please take us as you find us, we won’t put on a performance to impress – but we are confident you’ll be inspired by our experienced and highly trained staff and by our happy children at work and play.

“My daughter has been attending Jabberwocky since September 2018 and engages in lots of fun activities, from painting to baking to visiting the local market and exploring their garden areas, whether in the mud kitchen or playing with water! I get to view her engagements in activities via her tapestry journal... so whilst at work, I can see what she has been up to. The bond between the staff and children is great and I feel like I’m leaving her in the care of family. I feel confident and happy leaving her to explore and learn whilst I go to work.” GEORGE S (father)
