You see them each time you drop your little one to nursery or preschool. They know your child inside and out but how well do you know your child’s nursery teacher? We got some of our team to answer a few questions to help you get to know them better, let’s find out…

 

Grace

What are your favourite things about working at Jabberwocky?

Forest School, the staff and every day is different

What is your favourite colour?

Pink.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spending time with friends and family, listening to music, going to concerts and baking.

What is the best thing about working with children?

Getting to watch them grow, hearing them laugh and how pure they are.

What is the toughest thing about working with children?

When they get ill and when they get upset and you can’t calm them down.

What is the bravest thing you’ve done?

I was thrown through obstacles in 2024 and I got over them.

If you were famous, what would you be famous for?

For not being good at Karaoke!

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Belong Together – Mark Ambor.

What do you do to relax?

Having a shower or bath, watching Netflix and eating food & drinking tea.

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

Margot Robbie

You know it’s going to be a good day at work when…..

You get sent to Forest School on a sunny day.

 

Jasmine

What are your favourite things about working at Jabberwocky?

The range of places to go and activities to do with the children. Also the friends I have made.

What is your favourite colour?

Orange.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Play skittles, go on days out with my husband and children and shopping.

What is the best thing about working with children?

The love they give you back and watching them achieve new things.

What is the toughest thing about working with children?

When a child is upset, and you can’t find a way to help them or calm them down.

What is the bravest thing you’ve done?

Put my fears aside and held a snake in Zoo Lab so my key child would feel confident in holding it too- which he was!

If you were famous, what would you be famous for?

Cracking down on and stopping animal cruelty.

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Oh What a Night – Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons

What do you do to relax?

Baking, seeing friends and watching films.

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

Ladbaby Mum, all about fun and her children!

You know it’s going to be a good day at work when…..

Staff are smiling and children are excited and ready to play.

What are your favourite things about working at Jabberwocky?

Ang and her wonderful cooking, the space to thrive with the children, the open opportunities provided for not just the children but staff.

What is your favourite colour?

Rainbow – all colours.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spend time with my loved ones. Creating memories as time is precious.

What is the best thing about working with children?

To see the development and growth, their little personalities develop into the most weird and creative ways but also have the challenges presented each day with the unpredictability of children.

What is the toughest thing about working with children?

Not enough time in the day/week to fully see all the children to ensure fully they’ve showed their best.

What is the bravest thing you’ve done?

I have to admit this, I did hold the snake at Zoo Lab all by myself. I also live with a physical impairment, and I managed to raise £600 for SANDS charity, and walked 180k in June 2022.

If you were famous, what would you be famous for?

Being damn right fabulous! Being an advocate for SEN children within pre-school settings (as often they go under the radar).

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Lord…. ‘You Are My Sunshine’.

What do you do to relax?

Head out on a walk.

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

Really hard being so young but…Ashley Cain or Ruth Jones.

You know it’s going to be a good day at work when…..

You’ve woken up in enough time with two kids who have been compliant and are ready to leave the house.

You’ve woken up beady eyed, bushy tailed and have forgotten the rest of the world, ready to face the day.

 

Ashton

What are your favourite things about working at Jabberwocky?

The broad spectrum of different things that are done with children i.e. Forest School and Boogie Beats.

What is your favourite colour?

Green

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Playing pool.

What is the best thing about working with children?

Knowing that even though they are young and might not be having a tough time, that you are doing your best to make their lives that little bit better and putting a smile on their faces.

What is the toughest thing about working with children?

When they don’t listen to you.

What is the bravest thing you’ve done?

Giving a speech at my nephew’s funeral.

If you were famous, what would you be famous for?

Being a DJ/music producer.

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Everlong – Foo Fighters.

What do you do to relax?

Watch Netflix/YouTube and listen to music.

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

Bradley Cooper.

What are your favourite things about working at Jabberwocky?

Forest School and the range of activities.

What is your favourite colour?

Turquoise

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Carnivals, rounders and young farmers.

What is the best thing about working with children?

Teaching little minds and watching them grow.

What is the toughest thing about working with children?

When they are ill and parents still bring them in.

What is the bravest thing you’ve done?

Holding a snake (I’m terrified!)

If you were famous, what would you be famous for?

Making a cure that cures all types of cancer

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The Hokie Cokie (kids love it!)

What do you do to relax?

Going out with friends for a drink and a film.

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

Rebel Wilson

You know it’s going to be a good day at work when…..

When the sun is shining or when the children are ready for anything! Adapting the day and the children go with it.

What are your favourite things about working at Jabberwocky?

The opportunities and experiences we offer children! My Team of staff.

What is your favourite colour?

Green, green, all the things green!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Socialise with friends and family, holidays, Glastonbury festival, pub, bike rides, beaches and when I look after my nephew.

What is the best thing about working with children?

The funny things they say e.g my Dad’s from the olden days, he’s over a 100 years old!

Seeing them do things for the first time!

What is the toughest thing about working with children?

Trying to give each child the time they deserve.

What is the bravest thing you’ve done?

Jumped out of a plane!

If you were famous, what would you be famous for?

Doing something crazy or maybe being the author of a children’s book.

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

1000 Miles – Vanessa Carlton

What do you do to relax?

Sleep!

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

Errm I don’t know….maybe a young Meryl Streep or Jennifer Lawrence.

You know it’s going to be a good day at work when…..

I don’t snooze my alarms, I make an iced coffee and all the staff are in!
