1. Bowlore Medieval Display Weekend

2. Magique: Fire and Water Show at Wookey Hole

  • Date: Wednesday evenings (29th July – 26th August 2026)

  • Location: Wookey Hole Caves, Wells, BA5 1BB

  • Description: An extraordinary evening out! "Magique" is a spectacular family magic and illusion show blending jaw-dropping fire and water visual effects with plenty of laughter. 4. Supersonic Summer at the Fleet Air Arm Museum

  • Date: Daily throughout July & August 2026

  • Location: RNAS Yeovilton, Ilchester, BA22 8HT

  • Description: Discover Europe's largest naval aviation museum. Children can step aboard the very first British Concorde, look inside real search-and-rescue helicopters, and immerse themselves in the "Aircraft Carrier Experience" that brings the thrill of naval flight to life.

5. Stone Age SOS at Cheddar Gorge

  • Description: Join the Cheddar Gorge team throughout the summer holidays for this prehistoric-themed event! Included with a day ticket, families can watch live fire-lighting demonstrations, hear fascinating talks about our early ancestors, and take part in hands-on Stone Age crafts.

6. Cars 'N' Cracklin' Summer Evening

  • Date: Friday, 14th August 2026 (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)

  • Location: Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, BA22 7LH

  • Description: A fantastic summer evening out for motor-mad families! Gather to check out incredible vehicle displays in the evening sun while enjoying live music and delicious food (a pulled pork bun is included with your ticket).

7. Drop-in Wood Crafting & Paper Making

  • Date: 23rd July – 29th August 2026 (Selected Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays)

  • Location: Montacute House, Montacute, TA15 6XP

  • Description: A fantastic, hands-on activity for creative kids! Included with your admission, the National Trust team is running drop-in sessions where children can try their hand at traditional wood crafting and making their very own handmade paper to take home.

8. Summer Garden Games

  • Description: Bring playtime outside! The stunning grounds of Montacute House will be set up with a range of giant garden games suitable for all ages. Challenge the kids to a game of giant chess or croquet on the lawns after enjoying a summer picnic.

9. Outdoor Theatre: Pinocchio

  • Date: Thursday, 13th August 2026 (6:30 PM)

  • Location: Glastonbury Abbey (Base of the Tor), Glastonbury, BA6 9EL

  • Description: Situated right at the base of Glastonbury Tor, the Abbey ruins are hosting the acclaimed Illyria theatre company for a magical, coming-of-age outdoor musical production of Pinocchio. It is a thrilling, kid-friendly show perfect for a summer evening.

  • Little Discoverers: Colourful Illumination & Hands-on Archaeology for Kids Date: 31st July – 1st August 2026 (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM) & Thursday, 6th August 2026 (10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

  • Description: Little Discoverers:  If you have under-5s, this free morning session at the Abbey is brilliant. The "Little Discoverers" club invites toddlers and their carers to get messy and make colourful illustrations inspired by the historic monks who used to live there.

  • Hands-on Archaeology: Let your children become real-life archaeologists for the day! Running as part of the Festival of Archaeology, kids can drop into the Abbot's Kitchen to examine real historical finds and discover how people lived and ate in the past.

11. Open-Air Swimming at Greenbank Pool

  • Date: Daily throughout July & August 2026

  • Location: Greenbank Pool, Wilfrid Rd, Street, BA16 0EU

  • Description: A fantastic community-run, heated outdoor pool right in the heart of Street. Open daily throughout the school holidays, it is the perfect spot to cool down with the kids. It features a large main pool, a dedicated children's splash pool, and lovely grassed areas with plenty of shade that are ideal for a post-swim family picnic.

12. Summer of Sport & Lightning Loop

  • Date: Ongoing throughout July & August 2026

  • Location: Clarks Village, Farm Road, Street, BA16 0BB

  • Description: Clarks Village is bringing the excitement of summer sports into its beautiful, landscaped gardens! In July, families can enjoy interactive football games, touch walls, and live tennis screenings. Throughout August, children aged 4-10 can take part in 'Lightning Loop'—a mini F1 race-track experience featuring interactive ride-on cars, an inflatable track, and a winner's podium in tribute to Somerset's own racing star Lando Norris.
